Mimiko, APC chief differ on Ondo’s development
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, and a member of the All Progressives Congress Board of Trustees, Chief Jimoh Ekungba, have disagreed on the issue of Ondo development.
Ekungba, an indigene of Owo, who is eyeing the Alagbaka Governor's Office, Akure, said there was nothing to show for the resources available to Ondo State in the last seven years.
He said, "Ondo State doesn't have to be poor. Mimiko has misruled the state in the last seven years. What are the effects of the N36bn the Mimiko administration met on the ground when he was inaugurated as governor?
"Mimiko has ruined Ondo State. I know the extent of the rot and I can fix the problem because I have the integrity, capacity and capability as I'm a trained problem solver.
"Ondo as an oil-producing state should not owe workers. Our dear state has been yoked in the last 16 years, thus, our people must wake up and vote wisely this time around. We must not vote for a dribbler."
But Mimiko, who spoke through his Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, described Ekungba as an attention-seeker, adding that only blind people 'like Ekungba' would not see the transformation taking place in Ondo State.
The governor said, "Ondo State's maternal mortality scheme initiated through the 'Abiye programme' has been accepted as a benchmark in Africa by the United Nations. The same thing goes for our urban renewal, education and agriculture programmes.
"We have revived the farm settlement initiated by the Chief Obafemi Awolowo administration of the 1960s in the Oda Road area of Akure just as our mega school constructions have become benchmarks by the UN in the education sector."
