Banker caught stealing money from Bank's Vault

It was a very embarrassing moment for a banker, who works as a cashier, in one of the new generation banks located along New Market Road,
Onitsha, as he was alleged to have been caught after removing an unspecified sum of money meant for the vault.

The man (names withheld), according to a source, was in the habit of stealing money meant for daily transactions with customers.

The bank has in the past been experiencing shortages after each day’s business and the losses debited against signatories to the cash.

It was revealed that after monies had been ferried away to Central Bank for deposit, officials always come back complaining of shortages until that fateful day.

The man who was remorseful when it was discovered that he was responsible for the missing funds pleaded with the cash officer and the operations manager not to report the incident to the management at the headquarters.

In a swift disagreement, another banker in whose name the missing money had always been debited accused the man of attempting to ruin her career as she always experienced shortages at the close of work each day which has suddenly pitched her against the management and other staff of the bank.

The lady banker who was said to be in her thirties also complained of having paid heavily for losses which was debited to her. She was marvelled as she wept, saying that fate had finally caught up with the man trying to throw her back into the labour market.
