Cech Could Save Arsenal 15 Points Per Season, Says Chelsea Captain Terry
The former England skipper hails the 33-year-old goalkeeper as an “unbelievable professional” but understands why he wants to leave Stamford Bridge this summer
Chelsea captain John Terry says Petr Cech would strengthen Arsenal and believes that signing him could save Arsene Wenger’s side 15 points a season.
Goal revealed at the start of June that the 33-year-old has asked to join the Gunners this summer after he lost his place as the Blues’ first-choice goalkeeper to Thibaut Courtois last term.
Terry has praised Cech for his mentality after being left out by Jose Mourinho but understands why the Czech Republic international wants to leave Stamford Bridge.
“There’s talk of Arsenal signing Petr Cech and, if they do get him, he will strengthen them for sure. He will save them 12 or 15 points a season,” Terry told talkSPORT.
“Petr was an unbelievable professional last year. When you get left out of the team it can be hard to accept but, when he came in, he was exceptional.
“He deserves a lot of credit for that. We understand he wants to play first-team football but nobody wants to see him leave the club. He’s going to be sorely missed and will improve any side he goes to.”
