As Fans Await D’banj, Don Jazzy Reunion (Opinion)

D’banj during 2015MTVMAMA dedicated the evolution award he won at event held in South Africa to former co-founder of Mo’hit, Don JAZZY. Fans of the two artistes have commended D’banj for his action while many fans believe that two friends are planning reunion in the interest of Nigerian Music.
In 2012, the signing of B’banj by UK pop star, Kanye West record label led to break-up Mo’hit as Don Jazzy feels the new contract does not specify his role in the new arrangement. Dbanj and Don jazzy therefore mutually agreed to close Mo’hit and share their assets.
Don Jazzy later founded Mavin Record and signed Tiwa Savage, Wande Cole, and The Prince. The new record label in 2013 released Surulere, a song which became national anthem in radio/TV stations, a must play for DJ in every occasions while online download hits 100,000 just in a month. Dorobucci by the record label was named Music of this year MTVMAMA.
While Dbanj focused on his new deal with Kanye West by producing Oliver Twist which made it to Top TEN in United Kingdom billboard for weeks. Without doubt the Kanye West deal gave the Ogun state born pop star to take his music to bigger stage in Africa and the world as a whole.
Back at in Nigeria, music lovers praised Don Jazzy for producing good sound for direct songs released by his record label. Others described Dbanj as ingrate for dumping his longtime producer who had contributed immensely to his career success.






While, some fans believe that Dbanj action was the best for Nigeria’s music industry, noting that Koko master song listed on UK bill was as result of his collaboration with Kanye West.
The Mo’hit break up was a blessing to upcoming artistes like Korede Bello who released Godwin, Dija who sang awwww, those songs are current making waves in Nigerian music circle. Korede Bello performed at President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration dinner and some churches also invited him to perform Godwin. Only God know where Korede Bello and other young artistes signed by Mavin records would be, if Mo’hit record still exist.
Moreso, Dbanj’s DB records are also releasing hit songs for Nigerian music lovers. So the break-up was indeed blessing in disguise for Don Jazzy and Dbanj as they are both making cool cash from shows, endorsement and brand ambassador deal.
However, the partnership the two once jolly friends would definitely be a plus for Nigerian and African Music. Fans are seriously awaiting strategic partnership of the two music entrepreneurs to take our music to next level in the world state
