Manchester United’s superstars made a low-key return home after their disappointing close to pre-season preparations in the United S
Their tour, which included a 3-1 win over Barcelona in Santa Clara, wrapped up with a shaky 2-0 loss to the French champions in Chicago which will be their final match before kicking off the 2015-16 Premier League season against Tottenham on August 8 at Old Trafford.
Ahead of that match in Illinois Louis van Gaal’s side were greeted by hundreds of enthusiastic fans at their hotel, quite a different scene to Manchester Airport on Thursday where there was only a scattering of fans.
However, a number of fans stood out in brand new adidas shirt as they sought autographs from United players, including captain Wayne Rooney.
