UNILAG Hosts Academic Summit On Digital Age Media

All is now set for another edition of The Academic Summit to be hosted by University Of Lagos.
It is scheduled to hold at the Main Auditorium of the University of Lagos, on the August 6 by 9am.
Currently in the sixth year, the focus will be “The Digital Age Media: A Marriage of Skills, Opportunities and Technology.”
Some of the panelists include Kola Oyeyemi (President of ADVAN, and General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN), Lanre Adisa (General Manager of Noah’s Ark Communications Limited), Yomi Badejo-Okusanya (Managing Director, CMC Connect), Fola Folayan (On-Air-Personality, Nigeria Info 99.3FM), Ranti Atunwa (Creative Director, TBWA), Abimbola Adelakun (Journalist and Columnist at the Punch Newspapers) and the likes.
The Academic Summit 6.0 is the sixth edition of the annual summit that brings professionals from the diverse fields of communication (advertising, print, public relations, broadcasting and the nascent digital marketing as well as cinematography and photography) to students and lovers of the media for interaction.






This year, unlike the previous editions, there would be a workshop session where participants could take part in any of the five classes (photography cinematography, art directing, copy writing, and digital marketing), and receive certificates of participation at the end.
The summit boasts of having brought together a large number of prominent media giants, including the current special adviser to the President, on media and publicity, Mr. Femi Adeshina; Ace Broadcaster, Dan Foster; Chairman, Channels TV, John Momoh; Founder of Necci PR, Nkechi Ali-Balogun; There-Time Winner, CNN African Journalist Of The Year Award, Declan Okpalaeke
Ayomide Ekerin, the Convener for this year’s edition stated that “THE ACADEMIC SUMMIT 6.0 will feature several veterans in the fields of communication who would be engaged in a panel discussion on the new trends in communication, and how dexterity can be merged with technology to make wealth out of opportunities.”
He said since the summit started in 2009 with the theme, ‘Media Professions in the 21st Century: where do you belong?’, the summit has become a large platform for media lovers, tetairy media students and even the pre-tertiary, (secondary school) students to hear from the experienced minds of their models and mentors in the media.
The Summit is organized by the departmental fellowship of Mass Communication, University of Lagos, Communicators for Christ.
